Short Description

The Google Play short description is an 80-character line that is both keyword-indexed and the first copy most users read.

The short description is the 80-character summary that appears near the top of a Google Play listing, above the fold and before the “read more” fold. It is indexed for keyword ranking and highly visible, so it must satisfy the algorithm and the user at once.

The strongest short descriptions lead with the single clearest benefit and naturally include one or two priority keywords. Because it’s often the only description text a user reads before deciding, clarity beats cleverness.

It is the Google Play field most analogous to the App Store subtitle in both length and strategic importance.
