Uninstall Rate

Uninstall rate is the share of installs that are later removed; a high rate signals weak value and can drag down rankings.

Uninstall rate is the percentage of users who delete your app after installing it. It is the mirror image of retention and a strong negative quality signal: a flood of quick uninstalls tells the store that an app failed to meet the expectations its listing set.

High uninstall rates often trace back to a mismatch between marketing and reality — misleading screenshots, over-promised features, aggressive paywalls, or poor onboarding. Google Play in particular exposes uninstall data and factors retention into its systems.

Lowering uninstalls is both a product fix and an ASO fix: honest creatives attract better-fit users, and a smoother first session keeps them.
